Effexor is an antidepressant which belongs to the group of drugs called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors(SSNRIs). It is mainly used to treat depressive disorder, anxiety and panic disorder. The drug works by improving your mood and energy levels and helps to let you perform your day to day activities with vigor and zeal. Effexor can also be used to treat panic attacks and nerve pain. In some cases, it can also help women suffering from hot flashes during menopause.
The process involves balancing natural substances in the brain called neurotransmitter which if not balanced, can be the cause of depression and anxiety in a person.

Effexor generic, Effexor XR

Effexor is a brand name of the generic drug Venlafaxine which was approved by the FDA in 1993 and is now marketed by Pfizer. It is a licensed drug for the treatment of Major Depressive disorder(MDD).
Other brand names such as Effexor XR, Lanvexin, Viepax and Trevilor are also available in the market, but Effexor is the most common.
Various studies undertaken over a long period of time prove the effectiveness of Effexor generic in treating depress. Venlafaxine has a similar function to the tricyclic antidepressants amitryptiline(Elavil) and imipramine and has a better effectiveness that sertraline (Zoloft) and fluoxetine(Prozac) under controlled rating scales.

Effexor dosage

All instruction provided by the manufacturer or pharmacist must be thoroughly read before using Effexor and any questions or concerns should be addressed by a medical practitioner.
Dosage for Effexor is taken by mouth usually 2-3 times daily with food. The dosage can differ for each person depending upon the medical condition and previous response. To ensure the best results and reduce a chance of any ill effects, it is advisable to start off with a low dose and gradually increase your dose as per your doctor’s instructions. To help achieve the best results, take it at the same time each day.

Being too excited without any reason
Rashes on skin or itching
High fever

Effexor withdrawal symptoms

While Effexor is effective for most people and is known to help with depression, there are several side effects of discontinuing it and the withdrawal symptoms should be noted by anyone choosing to use it. Stopping Venlafaxine abruptly may cause flu-like symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting, nightmares, paresthesias or continued headache.
It is advisable to slowly taper off the use of Effexor to reduce the chance of withdrawal problems. Immediately stopping the use of Effexor is not recommended to anyone and even with a gradual decrease in dosage, extreme care should be taken and frequent checkups with our doctor should be undertaken in order to keep in check any withdrawal symptoms.
